Ainda sem um treinador definido para a próxima temporada, o Vasco entrou em contato com Maurício Barbieri. O treinador, de 41 anos, está sem clube desde que deixou o Bragantino no mês passado.
Houve uma primeira conversa com o diretor Paulo Bracks, que retornou nesta quinta ao Brasil, após quase três semanas na Europa. Ainda não há acerto, mas Barbieri é um nome cotado e, no momento, tratado como uma possibilidade. O elenco do Vasco se reapresenta na próxima quinta-feira.
O último trabalho de Maurício Barbieri foi no Bragantino. O treinador ficou por mais de dois anos no clube. Conseguiu levar a equipe paulista à Libertadores desse ano. Na temporada passada, foi vice-campeão da Copa Sul-Americana. A informação de que o técnico é um nome cotado no Vasco foi publicada primeiramente pelo jornalista Gilmar Ferreira.
O Vasco está sem treinador desde a saída de Jorginho, logo após o acesso à Série A, no início de novembro. O clube chegou a enviar uma proposta para Juan Pablo Vojvoda há algumas semanas, mas o argentino optou por renovar com o Fortaleza.

O paulista Maurício Barbieri, de 42 anos, é hoje o mais provável técnico a assumir o Vasco para o primeiro ano de trabalho sob à filosofia de gestão da 777 Partners, acionista majoritária da SAF do clube. O ex-técnico do Red Bull Bragantino foi bem avaliado pelos gestores que respondem pelo projeto e é, até agora, quem mais agrada. Mas não é uma escolha definida – ainda. Porém, pesa a favor de Barbieri experiência profissional em clubes-empresa como Audax-SP, Audax-RJ, Red Bull Brasil, Desportivo Brasil e RB Bragantino. Além dos trabalhos realizados em clubes como Goiás e Flamengo. Outros nomes foram avaliados, como o do português Antônio Oliveira, mas, a julgar por informações do mercado, o treinador a ser anunciado nos próximos dia é o Barbieri. Ele já tem 133 jogos na Série A, com média de 1,47 pontos por jogo – algo próximo a 55 pontos em 38 rodadas, índice de classificação entre os oito primeiros. Seu melhor índice médio foi o 1,85 obtido em 26 jogos (48 pontos) pelo Flamengo em 2018. Nas quatro edições da Série A em que esteve em atividade, seus times não fizeram menos do que 44 pontos – justamente a última, pelo RB Bragantino. Vejamos…
